Programme Manager, StoryTrails
StoryTrails is a unique immersive storytelling experience, led by StoryFutures Academy which is run by Royal Holloway, University of London and the National Film and Television School (NFTS).
StoryTrails allows local people to experience their town in a completely new way through the magic of augmented and virtual reality. People will be able to use this new technology to travel back in time, experiencing untold local histories from their local community. These stories will be brought to life in the places where they happened, reanimating public spaces and creating a free, entertaining and playful family-friendly experience.
Audiences will time-travel via the wonder of these new immersive technologies to experience untold local stories in the heart of their communities. Town squares, local libraries, streets and cinemas will be transformed into virtual portals through which to explore stories of historical change in 15 locations across the UK in 2022.
Guided by a mobile AR app, travel through a neon portal to begin a journey through different story points along a route within each of the 15 towns.
Explore 15 new “spatial maps” of different towns and cities across the UK. These maps will be produced by curating a selection of amazing audio stories from people in each town and city.
Immersive yourself into 9 different VR experiences that reinterpret national media archives and reshape storytelling as you know it.
